The cost of building a house, adding to
one or renovating one depends on many factors.
Asking for a simple answer to the
question of "how much will a house cost?" is the same as asking
"how much does a car cost?"
Here are some of the factors that
will determine the cost of your construction job.
| Size of the project
| The larger the house
the more it will cost in absolute terms but the cost per square
foot will be lower for the larger house as compared with a smaller
one. |
|
|
Number of floors
| A 2 story house will
cost less than an equally large (based on square footage) one
story house |
|
| Number of bathrooms and size of
kitchen |
|
Shape of the house
| A rectangular house
will cost less than a house that has many corners to it |
| A complicated roof line
with many dormers and a steep roof line will increase construction
costs |
|
| Type of heating/cooling system |
| Type of materials used
| A concrete house will
cost more than a house made of wood |
| Plastic laminates will
cost less than Granite |
| Maple cabinets will
cost more than Oak |

In order to get an accurate cost estimate for
your project, plans would have to be drawn-up.
The process of generating plans starts with a
concept.
This concept would evolve through the design process during which, you the
client and our design team, with the aid of a computer (to help in
visualizing the structure both inside and outside) will design your house.
Once you are pleased with the results the "working drawings" are
drawn.
The "working drawings" are the drawings used by the local
building department to issue a building permit and for the builder to
build your house. |
